Bistatic Sar Interferometry Using Envisat and a Ground Based Receiver: First Results
نویسندگان
چکیده
Bistatic SAR systems are an emerging research field, in which context the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya is developing a ground based bistatic system using ESA’s ENVISAT and ERS-2 as transmitters. The spatial resolution of this configuration is similar to that of their monostatic counterpart, although foreshortening effects have a lesser impact. The formulation of the interferometric phase has been generalized to the bistatic case, as well as the geometric and volumetric decorrelation factors. UPC’s RSLab has developed a dual-channel receiver prototype to perform bistatic experiments. First single-pass interferometric images corresponding to a local test-site are presented and compared to a synthetic interferogram.

First Steps towards Single-pass Interferometry Based on a Bistatic Fixed Receiver Sar System
Bistatic radar systems will play a great role in the coming decade since a large number of radar missions are being foreseen. Using existing transmitters, formations of small passive receivers will enhance our capability to gather backscatter information from earth. A bistatic SAR system operates with separated transmitting and receiving antenna and both can follow independent trajectories. If ...
متن کاملA Subaperture Range-Doppler Processor for Bistatic Fixed-Receiver SAR
In Bistatic SAR systems, transmitting and receiving antennas are mounted on different platforms and can follow independent trajectories. The Fixed-Receiver geometry makes reference to the case where the transmitter moves through a straight trajectory while the receiver remains stationary with its antenna pointing to the illuminated scene. Several processing strategies have been used to solve th...
متن کاملONERA-DLR bistatic SAR campaign: planning, data acquisition, and first analysis of bistatic scattering behaviour of natural and urban targets
Bistatic configuration is an attractive concept for spaceborne and airborne SAR missions when distributed radars are necessary as for example in the case of interferometric applications. The first reason is the important cost reduction achieved over the multiple radar elements, by having only one transmitter (expensive part) and multiple receivers. The most promising applications are single-pas...
متن کاملAssessment of radar interferometry performance for ground subsidence monitoring due to underground mining
This paper describes the results from the recently launched SAR satellites for the purpose of subsidence monitoring over underground coal mine sites in the state of New South Wales, Australia, using differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) technique. The quality of the mine subsidence monitoring results is mainly constrained by noise due to the spatial and temporal decorre...
متن کاملAnalysis of System Concepts for Bi- and Multi-Static SAR Missions
The performance and capabilities of a bistatic spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) are analyzed, where the transmitter and receiver are in different orbits. Such a configuration may be optimized for a broad range of applications like frequent monitoring, wide swath imaging, single-pass crosstrack interferometry, along-track interferometry, resolution enhancement or radar tomography.
